Attention to Accurate Cartography

In order to create accurate maps, a cartographer must 1. Have access to reliable sources of data, and 2. Be able to input and work with many layers of data to build a map.

1. Cartography Sources

The creation of accurate maps begins with accurate, reliable, and up-to-date data. Outlook maps uses only the most reliable data sources including:

• United States Census
• U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
• NASA Landsat Satellite Imagery
• NASA Blue Marble Imagery
• Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) elevation data
• Various United Nations Data
• ...and many many other sources

2. Cartography Software

Another important aspect of accurate cartography is being able to reliably access and use the data. Outlook Maps uses state-of-the-art mapping and geographic software to accurately assemble and layout all maps.

For proprietary reasons, we don't reveal specific software used.
